Welcome to The Crossley Foundations

The Harry Crossley Foundation and The Doris Crossley Foundation are two separate private grant making organizations operating in Cape Town.

The Harry Crossley Foundation was setup in 1968, after the passing of Harry Crossley, with the first year of funding provided in 1969. The Foundation started with a small disbursement of about R65 000 and has grown over the years to disbursing over R30 million per annum covering bursaries and research scholarships at UCT and Stellenbosch University along with funding multiple projects every year. The Harry Crossley Foundation the Doris Crossley Foundation has disbursed over R500 million in grants since inception. We have had the pleasure of funding over 36 projects in 2024 which are all routed in education, research and animal welfare and we pride ourselves on forging strong, long-lasting relationships with our implementing partners.

Mission

To drive change through targeted investments in evidence-based programs that focus on education, research and animal welfare; for the purpose of achieving maximum, positive social impact within South Africa.

Vision

The Foundation is committed to developing South Africa’s potential by supporting and advancing research as well as enabling and improving the education pipeline with a view to creating a more equitable and thriving society. In addition to the above we support efforts that improve the protection and treatment of animals.
