The Independent Philanthropy Association South Africa (IPASA) recently hosted its 10th Annual Symposium in Johannesburg, under the theme “Reimagining Philanthropy for a Better Future.” Funded by the Harry Crossley Foundation (and other organisations), the event brought together over 150 representatives from independent philanthropic foundations across South Africa, aiming to inspire fresh perspectives and innovative practices in the sector.
This two-day symposium offered a rich program of workshops, panel discussions, and presentations from leaders sharing impactful case studies. As a funder, HCF was not only proud to support this significant event but also to participate actively.
The HCF team had the opportunity to learn about emerging trends, reflect on their practices, and engage with other funders in meaningful conversations. This gathering highlighted the value of collaboration in shaping a stronger, more inclusive philanthropic landscape in South Africa.
