Autism Western Cape : Empowering Individuals with Autism

Autism Western Cape (AWC) is committed to educating and empowering individuals with autism while offering vital support to their families and raising awareness within communities. The organization delivers autism-focused initiatives, including psychosocial education in public hospitals and clinics, counselling services for individuals and their families, and specialized training for schools and ECD teachers. Additionally, AWC equips service providers with essential knowledge and creates educational materials and kits to enhance autism support.

The Harry Crossley Foundation currently supports their training programme this year. This programme provides comprehensive training to healthcare workers, ECD teachers, and educators across the Western Cape, addressing key areas such as social skills development, sensory integration, and communication and language support.

The HCF team recently met with Anna-Beth Aylward, AWC’s Training Coordinator, and her team to discuss the impact of their work and explore the meaningful difference the training is making across the region.
