The Christel House Playground Gets a Colourful Makeover

The Harry Crossley Foundation Trustees had the pleasure of attending the official unveiling of the newly upgraded Christel House Grade RR Playground.

Previously, the play area had minimal shading, which made it difficult for young children to enjoy outdoor activities, especially during the hot summer months. With the support of the Foundation, Christel House undertook a renovation project that not only introduced ample shaded areas but also included several exciting upgrades.

These enhancements feature improved swings and jungle gyms, as well as a ground covering of bark, a crucial upgrade that helps prevent injuries from falls. The playground has also been transformed into a colourful, imaginative space filled with interactive features.

The renovation was a collaborative effort involving Christel House staff and the renovation team, who creatively upcycled materials and incorporated them into a stimulating play wall. The team even added toys and sensory items to encourage exploration and tactile engagement.

Children now have a variety of play options throughout the area. Painted hopscotch grids and other playful ground markings ensure the 120 Grade RR learners can enjoy endless puzzles and games.

The unveiling event was a heartwarming celebration. The Trustees had the opportunity to meet the dedicated team and renovation crew and were treated to joyful songs and dances performed by the learners. A touching reminder of the positive impact such initiatives have on young lives.
