The Harry Crossley Foundation recently attended the Zenex Foundation’s From Evidence to Action Seminar, which explored how evaluation findings can be used to strengthen education programmes and inform future practice.
The seminar featured presentations by Prof. Johann Mouton and Dr Lauren Wildschut from the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST) at Stellenbosch University. They shared the findings of a meta-review of the Zenex Foundation‘s evaluation reports, highlighting key lessons on project design, evaluation practice, and the role of evidence in building knowledge and improving educational interventions.
The presentations explored what could be learned from the Foundation’s portfolio of evaluations, with practical insights into designing more effective programmes and using evaluation findings to strengthen implementation and decision-making.
Following the seminar, we also took part in a masterclass on designing effective education interventions, providing an opportunity to engage with the findings in greater depth and reflect on how evidence can be translated into meaningful action.
The Foundation values opportunities to learn from the broader education sector and looks forward to applying these insights to strengthen its own monitoring, evaluation, and project design practices.
