University of Pretoria – Veterinary Bursary Program

The Harry Crossley Foundation aims to support initiatives that focus on animal welfare. Through the Doris Crossley Foundation, it established an undergraduate Veterinary Science bursary program to assist students pursuing veterinary science studies at the University of Pretoria. In 2024, two outstanding students were selected as the first recipients of this bursary.

One of the recipients, Gina João, was in her final year of veterinary science studies. She excelled in her academics and graduated with a degree in veterinary sciences. Currently, she is doing volunteer community work at a public animal hospital clinic in Mpumalanga. The other recipient, Nicci, is now in her third year and has also excelled in her studies and has already started her clinical rotation.

This year, the foundation has added two new veterinary science students. The Foundation is proud to support these future veterinarians and looks forward to the positive impact they will make in the field of animal welfare.
