The Harry Crossley Foundation recently hosted a special breakfast at Blanko, The Alphen Hotel, bringing together 17 of our valued implementing partners working across South Africa’s education landscape. Set in one of the hotel’s charming function rooms, the morning saw around 30 guests gather for a relaxed farm-style breakfast, surrounded by conversation, gratitude, and shared purpose.
The event was anchored in appreciation — a heartfelt thank you to the organisations and teams who work tirelessly to strengthen the education pipeline from early childhood development (ECD) through to higher education. Together, these programmes reach thousands of learners and educators through initiatives spanning feeding schemes, school infrastructure, teacher training, literacy and numeracy development, and psychosocial support.
While the breakfast served as a moment of thanks, it also created space for connection and collaboration. Many of the organisations represented operate in overlapping areas of education, and this informal gathering offered an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas, and discover potential synergies. Without the structure of a conference or agenda, the Foundation hoped that the morning’s conversations might spark future partnerships and shared learning — naturally, and without pressure.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Linda Whitfield expressed deep gratitude for the commitment and innovation demonstrated by each organisation. She highlighted the importance of collective effort in advancing educational equity and the Foundation’s pride in supporting such dedicated partners whose work directly strengthens South Africa’s human capital and community wellbeing.
As the morning unfolded, the room filled with laughter, lively discussion, and a tangible sense of shared purpose. It was not only a moment to connect but also a chance for the leaders and practitioners who carry immense responsibility to pause, breathe, and take pride in their impact.
The Harry Crossley Foundation remains deeply appreciative of the dedication of its education partners and looks forward to the continued collaboration, learning, and impact that arise from these meaningful relationships.
