The Doris Crossley Foundation recently hosted an exciting day of rock climbing at CityRock Cape Town, bringing together undergraduate students from various institutions, including UCT, Stellenbosch University, the Luitingh Alexander Musical Theatre Academy, the School of Explorative Architecture, and the Animation School.
Our adventure day kicked off with fun icebreakers and essential safety lessons, setting the tone for an action-packed morning. Once everyone was geared up, the group took on the climbing walls, starting with the “easiest” ones and gradually tackling the more challenging ones. Though there were a couple of moments (…especially among the DCF team), the students showed incredible courage, scaling heights and pushing their limits.
Beyond the climbing, the event was a fantastic opportunity for students to connect, with some meeting for the first time, while others reunited with familiar faces. The students cheered each other on, sharing laughter and celebrating their successes as they bonded and got to know each other better.
Currently, DCF supports 41 students across these institutions, as well as at the University of Pretoria in Gauteng. As the exam season approaches, we want to wish all our students the very best of luck! You’ve got this!
