“We hope that this beautiful playground abounds with the sounds of laughter and joy and helps to restore those who play in it back to full health” Linda Whitfield, Harry Crossley Foundation Trustee
The Harry Crossley Foundation had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital Therapeutic Play Area on the . The project was led by the Children’s Hospital Trust, with the aim of developing a safe and stimulating play area that caters to children of all ages and abilities, including hospitalised children who are well enough to leave their wards and outpatient children, and their families.
The play area aims to stimulate children’s physical, sensory, and social development and features colourful rubber flooring for fall protection, ensuring a safe play environment for children. The playground equipment was carefully selected to provide a unique experience for children’s developmental needs, while offering a fun, exciting and colourful environment for children to play, grow and rehabilitate in.

The opening was attended by children, families, and the donors, with Linda Whitfield, the Harry Crossley Foundation trustee sharing a few words about the importance of the park and the Foundation’s relationship with the Hospital. The play area was sponsored by the Foundation in memory of Ron Paterson, one of its late trustees who was passionate about supporting children’s causes. The Foundation is proud to have contributed to this project, which will provide a safe and stimulating environment for children undergoing treatment at the hospital.
