It has been nearly three years since our last function to celebrate the HCF Cochlear Implant Program – Covid has played havoc with this gathering. So it was with great excitement that we journeyed out to Tygerberg Hospital to meet with the recipients of this grant. As always it was a function filled with wonderful stories and tears of joy as we listened to the stories of those who have received the most amazing gift of hearing either for the first time or hearing restored. It certainly is one of the most special days in our calendar. Watching little people play and respond to sound and hearing adults tell of how their lives have changed by the technology offered by the Cochlear Implant Program certainly makes the HCF team feel that they are doing justice to the late Harry Crossley’s wishes.
